Our mission is to help our clients build their businesses and help our employees build their future.
As companies continue down the path of COVID-19 business operations, several company trends and transitions should be anticipated. Leaders across all departments should prepare to navigate the new processes and procedures that will be incorporated into all facets of their company’s post-COVID-19 protocol while understanding it is fluid and apt to shift again.
Management will need to determine how to best lead teams remotely and offer their employees training on how to effectively lead in a virtual environment in order to best serve all team members.
There have been and will continue to be significant shifts in how data is managed and analyzed. For example, companies should prepare to modify how they keep track of what staffers are doing while working remotely from hours to various projects. According to a survey by Gartner, 16% of organizations are already tracking employees and their work using methods such as monitoring emails and virtual clocking in and out.
Leaders should ask for frequent input from their team members at all levels to determine how things are going from their perspective. There is always room for process improvement and new efficiencies as business operations continue to shift.
Businesses will need to keep in mind how the pandemic is impacting employee morale, some of the core incentives they may not be able to offer prospective employees any longer and modifications to those, and how company culture has and will continue to shift. Some employees thrive on having company events, utilizing perks such as on-site gyms, and having common spaces to take breaks, some of which may not be a reality any longer.
While some employees will continue to work remotely some of the time or perhaps permanently, leaders must prepare for if and when normalcy returns and what that will look like and entail for their organization. Resilience and mindset shifts will be critical to leaders as they propel their businesses to the next phase.
