As we approach the end of a tumultuous and stressful year for many while trying to combat zoom fatigue, this is a great time to identify how to boost employee morale. While the holiday season traditionally consists of holiday office parties and gift exchanges, this year will look markedly different for many. It is essential to continue to keep remote teams engaged in order to enhance company culture.
Here are ways to keep employees feeling appreciated while maintaining a semblance of festivity:
Gifting
While in-person exchanges may not be feasible or advised, employees who would like to participate in a gift exchange can send online gift cards or create a wish list. It's an easy way to celebrate the team.
Spread Joy
If your organization typically has an in-person charitable initiative such as giving to Toys for Tots or working at a soup kitchen, there are still ways to give back. They can donate to a pot and have the company match their donation so the company can make a larger donation on their behalf. It is also a good idea to explore local and national opportunities that still exist, just keeping in mind the restrictions on the group size and requirement of wearing masks.
Have a Virtual Celebration
While holiday parties may not be live, there can still be a video celebration for employees to attend. Easy games, trivia, videos highlighting the year in review, and more will engage the group. Another option is to bring in an outside performer or teacher for something employees would enjoy experiencing; they can have a mixology class, cooking demonstration, live music, magic shows, and so much more.
